Description: In 1916 Ward LaFrance began building fire apparatus. The founder had worked for relatives at American LaFrance before starting out on his own. The P80 Ambassador cab is arguably one of the most recognizable fire trucks ever having served as Engine 51 in the TV show Emergency. This was from the second season until the end of the series. Ward LaFrance used this cab for several other types like tiller tractors, ladders, snorkels and an occasional rescue. It will look great at a fire scene, firehouse, flat car load, or in a parade. The trailer for the ladder has an enclosed tiller position to the protect the firefighter steering the rear wheels. This trailer also has equipment cabinets along the running boards. When I first arrived in the Charlotte NC area in the late 1980's, The Charlotte Fire Department operated one tiller out of Station 4 in Uptown Charlotte. At the time CFD was switching over to a white over red paint scheme but Ladder 4 finished it's time with the city in an older paint scheme. Rigs with this paint scheme defied being classified. Sometimes it looked like a dull yellow other times a weird green that firefighters dubbed "sneeze green". I once mixed a match for the paint with old testors paint and used it to touch up a rust spot on Engine 23 and airbrush a model of the same engine. This is a tribute to CFD Ladder 4. Feel free to paint yours anyway you want, likely better than my paint job. I'll be adding more as time permits. Some flash removal is required, Some models will require basic assembly.
