In 1954 American psychiatrist Fredric Wertham published his condemnation of the comic book 'Seduction of the Innocent' siting among other reasons, that “comic books were a negative form of popular literature and a serious cause of juvenile delinquency“. What followed was the infamous Senate Hearings that resulted in the formation of the Comics Code Authority, ultimately leading to the end of most horror comics.
