Description: MUST SEE Pat.1931Possible One Of A Kind Marble Top Cast Iron Ornate Parlor Table. What I know. This table has been in my family over 60 yrs. It belonged to my grandparents who lived in southern California'. Iwas once told by my Grama that it was valuable. But didnt have enough interest at the time to ask why. Here's what ive discovered. The table was designed by Abe Friedman. He applied for a patent in 1930 and was granted the patent in 1931. He went under the name Novelty Manufacturing Company. Both the patent Number and the name Novelty Mfg. Co. Are embossed as part of the cast metal.. which i am only assuming is iron. Not sure about the metal other than it is extremely heavy. Over the past few years i have scoured the internet looking for information on Novelty Mfg Co. In Calif. I came across a few items that may well have come from this company, but no tables. THERE ARE NO RECORDS THAT THIS TABLE EVER WENT INTO PRODUCTION. THERE ARE NO CATALOGUES OR ADVERTISEMENTS OR RECORDS THAT THIS TABLE EVER EXISTED ON THE MARKET. The patent application includes a very detailed drawing of Mr. Friedmans design. Which is identical other than the bottom plate is ornate on my table rather than solid like the drawing shows on the patent application. I am ASSUMING this is a creative adjustment that came after the patent was granted. My conclusion of what my Grama meant when she said it was valuable is perhaps because of its rarety. Not to mention, it is absolutely GORGEOUS. It is going to be around many more generations. Its well made , solid and i cant imagine what it would take to ever even age it. The orthogonal marble top is about an inch thick and lifts out of the frame easily. That is the only part i am worried about shipping when it sells. I will probably have it done by ups or a shippung company who insures and guarantees their safe delivery . I know i need better puctures. They are coming soon I need help moving it out into the open. Please feel.free to ask questions. Thank you for.looking.
