Description: Museum Quality Geode with Extremely RARE Combo of TABULAR CALCITE CRYSTAL with AMETHYSTINE Quartz Crystals on Heavy Matrix. This amazing Geode is solidly attached to a very solid, heavy MATRIX. Trimming of the Geode is excellent and the major Tabular Calcite Crystal is Perfect as are the Interior Crystals of Amethystine Quartz. Superb Showpiece! The light purple Amethystine Crystals have traces of Goethite (iron ore) Inclusions to complete this amazing combination of Natural Minerals and the RARE Tabular Calcite HABIT. Perfection hardly ever gets any better for this type of specimen! GEODES always capture rarities and perfection because the interior is protected from the harsh Geologic Environment by surrounding solid rock. Very heavy specimen that will never wear out! Have had question about any repairs and there are none noted with my observations; photos show a black line between the matrix and curved side of Geode that appear maybe glue to stabilize but close examination looks more like some black mineralization that likely covered the whole Geode before extraction because there are traces of the black at many spots on spherical outside back of Geode. This suggests may be concentrations of Goethite on exterior that would be consistent with the tiny specks inside that are inclusions in the Quartz Amethystine Crystals. We have no history about this specimen because both prior owners are deceased now. Sets very calm and solid for display that presents 100%. Measures about 8 in x 6.5 in x 8.5 inches at max margins and Geode is about 5 inches diameter and the RARE Calcite Crystal is about 55 mm x 28 millimeters and Amethystine Quartz Crystals to about 15 millimeters wide.
