Description: PRIVATE STOCK FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION!!!If you are looking for the best in Collectable Televisions, you are in the right place! I collected Televisions for 50 years and had well over 100 sets. I trimmed down the collection 15 years ago and saved just my 8 favorites. Now you have the opportunity to own them. They have all been recently serviced by my Tech Friend Tom who made them all work well and cleaned all the controls so they will work well into the future for you.************************************************************************************************ Museum Quality 1959 Philco Safari 2” Projection Television- 1st Portable Television-Serviced There is little doubt in my mind that this is the “Best on Planet” of this Rare Philco Safari 2” Projection Television! I purchased it from the original owner who won it in a Wheaties Cereal Contest in 1959! It sat in his display cabinet for many years. Tom cleaned the controls on the TV and it works excellent. He also attached a new coax matching transformer underneath for easy connection. It could use a very light cleaning, but I’ll leave that up to you. It is close to PERFECT! Nice piece of History. The Philco Safari was the first true portable Television capable to run on batteries. The set came out in 1959, and was followed by sets from many other makers. In effect, it is the Regency TR1 of the TV world. It has 21 transistors and 12 diodes. It is 18’ tall, 9” wide, and 6” deep. It sold for $255 in 1959, and is seldom found in working condition. The set used a 2” picture tube reflecting up into a curved mirror. At a distance away, the picture is relatively large, and appears to float in space. This set comes with: · Copy of Service Information · Original Popular Science from August 1959 with this TV on the cover · Original Philco Transistor Portable Television Brocure · Original Schematic********************************************************************************************* Classic Television Statement: These old nondigital sets are not “Plug & Play” with your cable setup or TV antenna. The easiest way to use them is with an older VCR or DVD player that outputs to channel 3.**********************************************************************************************Welcome to RADIOORPHANAGE JIVE (Just Incredible Vintage Electronics). Here you will find the Best of my 50+ years of Vintage Electronics collecting. These items are here because they are truly the Best of the Best. I was the President of the New England Antique Radio Club and then the New England Vintage Electronics Club for six years. I stepped down at the end of 2018 to concentrate on finding new owners for the Vintage Electronics my son is not interested in. 3) I value you as a customer, and more importantly, a returning customer. I reward your fast payment with excellent packing, and lightning fast shipping. 4) I have no interest in taking advantage of anyone, and I have no need to. If you understand what you are buying, and how Vintage Electronics work, you will be very happy. If you don't understand how to put an antenna on an old tube radio, or how to connect speakers to a Vintage Amplifier, join a local Antique Radio or Vintage Electronics Club. If you don't know where your closest club is, let me know, and I'll tell you. If you don't know how to hook up or use what you are buying, or know someone who does, please don't buy. ASK QUESTIONS about anything you don't understand. I want you to be happy. 5) Shipping is expensive. You can pick your item up with NO SHIPPING costs at my home 50 miles north of Boston with advanced notice. The eBay concept of "free shipping" is one of the 3 biggest lies. We are the best packers on eBay, and pack YOUR item the way we'd like to receive it-if it was being sent to us. We take extra care in packaging, (Bubble wrap, foam pellets, proper boxes, etc.)(NOT the wadded up newspaper trick) There is a cost for doing this right. Our goal is to get it to you in good shape, and for you to not have to file those fruitless shipping claims. Let's face it, once it's broke, it's broke. We have lost a significant amount of money in packaging costs over the past 25 years, and will continue to do so to get it to you in one piece. 6) YOU & US: Note that the majority of what we sell is antique, vintage, and/or collectable electronics. For liability purposes, Radioorphanage / Bruce Phillips accept NO responsibility for how the buyer uses or misuse of the items. We see you as a valued customer, and want you to be happy. Buy with confidence, as we are in this for the long haul- not for a quick buck. If you are not happy, for any reason, let us know and we'll try to make it right. 7) Questions? Please ask!
