Description: Multi Patented Peck Stow & Wilcox Antique Auger Bit Brace #102. The patent stamps are faint and partly illegible, but I was able to slueth them out: Feb. 11, 1879 patent for the chuck Dec. 30, 1884 for the ratcheting mechanism 10" sweep Interesting ratcheting design. One of the little pawls is missing, not broken, appears to have 'fallen out' at some point, still functional with the aid of a drill bit or small screwdriver. Luckily the remaining pawl controls the 'good direction' i.e. this drill is functional as is. If you want to have the chuck spin freely in both directions, you will need that extra steel rod. R*s*wood pad and handle. The pewter ring above the handle is a bit loose, but again it's on the top side amd doesn't affect the use. A little electrical tape was present and did the job fine, but I removed it.for the listing. The chuck jaws are fine and functional and the racthet and gears work well. Other than noted, no complaints found. Any questions just ask
