Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This rock, from Franklin, New Jersey, has “possible” Hardystonite, with Willemite, Calcite and an unknown mineral that presents a pretty bluish display under Midwave (Photos # 1-3) or Longwave UV (Photos # 4 and 5). In my opinion, the Midwave display is best, followed by the Longwave display, and then the shortwave display (Photos # 6 – 8). I say POSSIBLE Hardystonite because, although the label that came with it SAYS Hardystonite, and the camera clearly sees blue areas as is typical with Hardystonite, I personally do NOT see any on the rock. That said, not everyone can see Hardystonite’s fluorescence, oddly enough. And like all fluorescent minerals, the fluorescence brightness varies from stone to stone. I would NOT consider this a bright Hardystonite piece by any means. It is FAR more interesting for its MIDWAVE UV response – quite pretty!!!! This is a rock weighing 3.9 ounces, or (113 g), and measuring approximately 2.00 inches X 1.25 inches X 1.00 inches (5.0 cm X 3.0 cm X 2.4 cm). NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights may not display any color. Also, the intensity of the color will vary depending on the strength of the lamp you have. For good quality lamps at a reasonable price, I suggest you consider the Internet offerings of Engenious Designs.
