Description: I purchased this amazing box at a local estate auction a while back. It is an antique general or grocery store counter display box and storage container for Mt. Vernon brand Japan Tea from Black Hawk Coffee & Spice Co. in Waterloo Iowa. It contained 40 cartons 1/2 pound each. It is a wood box lined with tin on the inside. The exterior decoration is all paper decals. There is some minor paper loss in high wear areas but overall the vast majority is in excellent condition. It displays great! The wood is not cracked or chipped. The top screw that holds the hook latch is missing but the original hook is included. The inside is entirely lined with tin. The lid bottom also has a woodgraining design paper decal in bright vibrant color. The hinge works great and the lid closes perfectly snug just as it should. There are a couple spots on the tin that appear to be paint. I didn’t mess with them. It is large, measuring 17” x 11.25” x 10.25”. It is a rare find and will be the jewel of your collection!
