The computer battery is still functional. It may be a new fresh battery but you can either upgrade the existing case to Lithium, use the power cord plugged directly in, or use the battery as is. It usually lasts 1.5 to 2.5 hours off of the charger. This is a great tablet that, even though the specs are a bit dated, operates very well. I, personally use one of these to operate GM Tech 2 and Ford's Forscan on my personal vehicles. It is great for that purpose but can be used for many other reasons
