MOST UNUSUAL WALTER PLUMHOFF SADDLE HOLSTER MAKER $1 TOKEN WAXAHACHIE TEXAS TX

Description: 1910 Census - Plumhoff Brothers (George F. and Edward L. Plumhoff) ran a “Harness Maker shop & General Store” at Waxahachie. Edward L. Plumhoff died Oct 23, 1955. Walter was their youngest brother, born Sept 1879, and died Mar 4, 1959. The brothers came from Illinois where their father, Henry F. Plumhoff, worked as a “Harnessmaker” at Oakdale. Edward L. and George F. Plumhoff moved to Waxahatchie in about 1901, but Walter remained in Illinois near his aging father until 1914. 1902-05 Waxahachie Daily Light newspapers mention Plumhoff Brothers. The Mar 7, 1903 Waxahachie Daily Light noted “John Dixon, a saddler for Plumhoff Brothers, was injured by falling down a stairway”. The August 1905 Waxahachie Daily Light newspapers indicate a planned removal of Plumhoff Harness & Saddlery to Fort Worth. The Oct 6, 1905 Waxahachie Daily Light reported that George F. and William Plumhoff were in Fort Worth where they have moved their wholesale and manufacturing Saddlery business. They believed that Fort Worth had better facilities for a wholesale business. The 1907-09 Fort Worth CD’s lists George and William Plumhoff as working for the Kellner-Durrett Saddlery Company there. By 1911 only William Plumhoff remains in Fort Worth, but working for T. R. James & Sons. July 4, 1907 Waxahachie Daily Light indicates that Plumhoff Saddlery Co. continues to operate at Waxahachie.
