Description: Do you live in an older home that has water pipes that have inconsistent pressure? When someone turns on a faucet in one room, does the pressure change at the sink you are using? Well, this device can be used to balance the pressure to most any faucet, to prevent large variations in temperature when the water pressure in your water pipes fluctuates. When installed between your water supply lines, and the input to your faucet, these pressure balancing valves will automatically correct fluctuations in the pressure of your hot and cold water pipes. These pressure balancing, safety valves, were originally manufactured by Moen for use as an accessory on Belvedere shampoo bowls to provide an anti-scalding safety feature. Originally designed to mount directly to the supply stubs of Belvedere shampoo bowl faucets. These units can be adapted to any faucet to provide constant pressure regulation. It will prevent temperature fluctuations caused by erratic water pressure (like when someone opens a valve somewhere else in the building). The input ports to this unit are 1/2 inch female pipe thread, and the output is 3/8 inch copper compression fitting. The copper supply tubes shown in the photos can be removed and 3/8 inch copper tubing can be attached using compression rings and nuts; or as an alternative, flexible braided stainless steel supply tubes with a 3/8inch compression nuts could be used. The valve needs to be installed with the balancing spool (which is in the middle of the unit) in a horizontal position. These units use the same balancing spool replacement part (Moen part number 1423) that is currently in use on Moen shower faucets that incorporate the pressure balancing feature. You should have no problem obtaining a replacement "balancing spool" if you should ever need one in the future. After searching the internet I have come to the conclusion that these units are no longer being manufactured by Moen. These pressure balancing units are used. I have removed the balancing spools and checked them for proper function, and have found them to be working correctly. Solid chrome plated brass construction. Original cost from Belvedere in the late 1970's was $115.
