Pierre Silvin was born in Talence in 1959. Without any training, he has always painted or drawn, more or less, depending on the periods of his life. It was at the age of thirty-five that he devoted himself to more constant production, alongside his employment in the administration. Installed on a corner of the table, in the kitchen or in the living room, within sight of his family, Pierre Silvin brings out a dense universe where geometric shapes, unstructured characters, with intense gazes – the most often naked women -, animals, plants, all articulated in the manner of a stained-glass window whose reading grid would be both vertically and horizontally. His drawings in shimmering colors are shrouded in an astral light, sometimes dotted with white dots or spirals. The portraits are bathed in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. He uses different materials such as graphite, gouache and colored pencil on paper, playing with effects of superpositions and transparencies which produce astonishing reliefs. Pierre Silvin lives in Bordeaux. His work appears in numerous collections: Neuve Invention in Lausanne, Collection De Stadshof at the Musée du Docteur Guislain in Ghent, Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava and Cabinet des Estampes de la Collection Dino Menozzi in Reggio Emilia.
