Description: Estate FindChinese Qing PeriodPairLeft and RightArtist SignedRoyal Court SceneLacquered Pewter Vases We offer a mirrored pair of antique nineteenth century Qing era Chinese pewter vases decorated with hand painted lacquered scenes of ladies at court. The decoration is painted like a richly detailed oriental screen. In one scene a lady views her garden from her porch aside a tied back drapery. A second scene shows two ladies in conversation along a bamboo fenced walkway. A third scene follows the walkway to a young lady standing in a garden gazebo. The vases have darkened with age but close inspection shows a rich array of greens, reds, oranges and gold ornamentation painted against a maroon background. Each vase is artist signed on the base with a hand painted seal in red paint. There are old inventory labels from a past collection. The vases are ovoid shaped like ginger jars with an upper rim and no longer retain their lids. There are minor dents and flakes. The vases weigh 2 pounds 9.0 ounces and 2 pounds 11.9 ounces. Each vase measures 7 1/2” in diameter and 7 1/2” in height. The bases measure 3 1/2” in diameter. The wooden stands are contemporary and add 3” to the overall height.
