A weighty, vintage, nicely detailed pewter pendant of John Bull and his English Bulldog. It is signed MIR(ACLE). John Bull is an imaginary figure who is a personification of England, similar to the American 'Uncle Sam'. He is shown in cartoons and caricatures as a prosperous farmer of the 18th century. He reached a peak of popularity towards the end of the Victorian and early Edwardian periods.
