Description: The Pence Opera House in Minneapolis as it appeared circa 1875. A good view of the grand building. Several signs are easily readable, among them being, the main Pence Opera House sign high above the entrance, and on street level, "Rothchild's", "New York Clothing Hall", and a couple of others. The name "Fred L. Smith" is written on the mount to either side of the images. A "Fred L. Smith" is listed as having served as a Minneapolis alderman in the 1870s. We think its possible that this is that same person. The view is part of B. F. Upton's Minnesota & Northwestern Views, published by Fearon & Bacheller. The mount is dirty, but the image, when viewed through the stereoscope is clear with very nice detail. Please review the preceding condition description box and photo gallery. The stereoview will be shipped well protected. We combine shipping.
