Description: Vintage Mini Antique Brass Ganesha This finely detailed, solid brass figurine is enclosed in a clear acrylic case with a dark brown frame. Attached jump ring is large enough to accommodate many types of cord or chain. Ganesha is a Hindu god who is known as the remover of obstacles and the lord of new beginnings. Ganesha is the son of Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction, and Parvati, his consort. A popular myth about his birth tells of Parvati creating Ganesha from clay and ghee while Shiva was meditating on Mount Kailash. When Shiva returned, Ganesha prevented him from entering, so Shiva cut off Ganesha's head and replaced it with that of an elephant. Ganesha's round belly represents the cosmos, and the snake around his waist represents the energy that holds it together. The mouse he rides represents the wandering mind, which can be controlled by knowledge. Ganesha's four hands represent the mind, intellect, ego, and conditioned consciousness. All of my items come from auctions, estate sales and thrifting. I do my very best to describe and care for these treasures until they come to live with you. As a reminder, these items are not new, and may not be in perfect condition. I photograph and/or mention any imperfections in my listings, however, sometimes I do miss things. I do not scrub items to clean, as I leave most restoration to the buyer. That way, you'll be as gentle or harsh as you feel is safe for your piece. Please view photos thoroughly, enlarge if needed, to really get a good look before purchasing these vintage items. If I noticed a spot or blemish, I took a picture of it and will include with the listing, so please be sure to review all of the photos.
