This is the record of his “insignificant” service in the first of the World Wars. He was rejected as a volunteer before war was declared and attached himself to the French army. Later he joined the U.S. Army, and provides a broad outline of where he served and where discharged. He was an officer in the 82nd Division, later to become the famous 82nd Airborne.
