This was cut from a bound edition of the 1951 Corvalis Oregon newspaper, that I recieved as a gift in 2004! This would never have been saved on its own because, at the time, this would not have been a significant occurence. Looking back, this moment could have broken a player's spirit and might have derailed his major league career. This is a glimpse into a moment of time, just before a star rose to fame. If you are a Mickey Mantle collector, this is a must have! This may be the only actual newspaper clipping of this story in existence! I have enjoyed having it in my collection for 16 years and now it is time to let it go so we can pay some bills after this crazy year we have had.
