Otherwise fine with no holes, tears or missing paint. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age. Johannes Meyer Andersen (1918-2005) Born in Klampenborg, Denmark in 1918. Known Danish painter and renowned for his series of landscapes featuring horses. Which earned him the nickname ( Hestemaleren / The horse painter. Meyer Andersen came from a middle-class Danish family, who worked in the fish industry. Mayer’s father was a close friend and soldier buddy of artist, Jean Gauguin, who came and lived with the Mayer family during the summers. Jean Gauguin was a great influence for Meyer Andersen and he began painting already as a young child. Meyer was only 18 when he debuted at “KE” The artists fall exhibition in 1936, and there he got a great deal of attention. Meyer Andersen was educated at the technical school of arts and accepted in to the Royal Art Academy. Meyer has been exhibited in Denmark, Brussels, New York and Miami.
