Acey-deucey (also spelled "acey-deucy" or "acey-ducey") is one of the most popular backgammon variants. It is a faster game and in some ways more exciting than regular backgammon. The main distinguishing feature is the roll of 1 and 2 (acey-deucey) which gives the player who rolls it extra turns. This mid century game was produced by Metro Games in New York City back in the 1940s. These games were popular with Navy and Merchant Marine Sailors during long hours onboard ship. Their small size made it easy to stow-away in the limited space afforded to the crew onboard ship. The game is complete with all pieces, the original mini dice and the 30 peg pieces however it appears that on of the black peg piece has been replaced with a chess king piece, See photo. The outer genuine leather bound case does have some storage ware but is intact, the writing and stitching is intact. The outer snap as well as the inner snap portion does have some rust but it does function as designed. The inner case is intact as well and the writing is present. The game board does have some usage ware but overall is in great shape and clearly marked. The inner storage drawer is intact and in perfect shape and slides smoothly in and out from underneath the game board, it holds all game pieces securely. The game measures approx. 5 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
