Description: Beautiful, rare 19th century antique brass menorah. This a a very rare, large, heavy Hanukkah lamp. The backplate features very detailed rampant lions a crown, and a framed temple menorah. The large size and design suggests early to Mid- 19th century. Classic type menorah found in the Jewish Museum collection in New York. Featured in Weinstein book. What is quite unusual about this one is that it appears to have been converted into a wall hanging menorah as used by Sephardim. Presumably some time in the 1800s. The backplate has also been curved to fit this usage. We have never seen this variety of menorah used for wall hanging. The candle sockets have been soldered in place. Dimensions Height=7 3/4 inches Width=9 inches Depth=1 1/2 inches Weight=2 pounds, 2.7 ounces Condition= Excellent for age. No shamesh. Two candle sockets are loose. Great for Judaica collection. Wonderful wall decoration! Good luck, please check out my other great Judaica pieces on my eBay store. Thanks!
