Description: Stunning hand-loomed woven wall hanging (or Rug) from Poland. This piece was purchased by my late mother in the late 1960s when she traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark at I what was called the Wawel Mart. It's a beautiful piece that was lovingly hanging in my childhood home for decades. Condition is exceptional with no holes, fraying, tears, odors or anything the such. It measures 59" x 20" without the 4" fringe. (fringe is 2" on each of the vertical sides). It is 87% wool and 13% flax. The original labels are still intact with the Designer and Weaver's names. They are M. Jandwska and Zajac (respectively), if I am reading the labels correctly. The piece is titled DZIECI, which translates to Children. I would call the color a burnt orange with yellow, white and black highlights. The piece speaks to both those who love folk art, as well as those who enjoy Mid Century Modern designs. There is a dowel along the top, that I believe was attached after the purchase, for easy hanging. It hangs beautifully with no buckling or also could be used as a runner or rug. Smoke free home.
