Description: Maxfield Parrish Canceled CheckMy dad really liked Maxfield Parrish, I have a lot of calendars to get through, but I think this is the only signature. This is a very rare canceled check from when Mr. Parrish was just 34 years old. It was drawn on The Land Title & Trust company, a financial institution in Philadelphia at the time, and made payable to Hanscom Brothers who was probably the Hanscom in Haverhill Mass that was basically a materials and hardware store. The amount isn't anything wild, the modern day equivalent of a few hundred dollars, probably for printing or building materials. The check is canceled, having holes near the signature. This is a neat piece of history. The signature matches nicely with everything I can find, but I haven't torn the back of the frame apart to see if there's a COA inside. I'm confident it's original, everything lines up. This is a fairly early signature, at just 34, Maxfield Parrish was already successful, but most of his most famous pieces hadn't come together yet. The check has a nice frame that's in fair shape. The check itself shows a bit of aging and was put through the system so it has typical wear and a split in the paper that's not super obvious but shown clearly in the photos. I've wrapped everything up very carefully, will ship FedEx 2-day within 1 business day of payment. Maxfield ParrishMaxfield Parrish (1870–1966) was one of America’s most celebrated illustrators and painters, known for his vibrant colors, fantastical landscapes, and iconic use of light. Emerging during the Golden Age of Illustration, Parrish created works that captivated audiences in books, magazines, and advertisements. His distinctive "Parrish Blue" became synonymous with his dreamy, atmospheric skies. Beyond illustration, he was a prolific muralist and fine artist, crafting idyllic scenes that blended realism with imagination. His most famous works, such as Daybreak (1922), solidified his status as a cultural icon, making him one of the most reproduced artists of his time. Parrish's work remains highly collectible and continues to inspire new generations of artists and admirers. FulfillmentThank you for viewing and please let me know if you have any questions!
