Original Matted & Period-Framed Illustration (page 39) from the 1904 1st Edition of ‘Italian Villas and Their Gardens’ by Edith Wharton. Matte is textured ecru (photo #9). This image first appeared as an illustration in the November, 1903 issue of Century Magazine, (facing page 32), featuring Part I (Florentine Villas) of the series. The muted colors are stunning. The image measures 7 3/4”x 5”. Outermost frame dimensions are 11 3/4”x 7 3/4”. The frame is an original period frame from the 1920’s. I thought the colors worked extremely well. MP signature discernible bottom left corner (photo #7). It is backed with acid-free backing, new hardware, dustcover and bump-ons November, 2023 and ready to hang. Note: The first 12 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues: photos 13 (slight angle), 14 & 15 after completion of project.
