Description: Maxfield Parrish "Aucassin Seeks For Nicolette” Original 1903 Print, Frame and Glass. Print size is 11 1/2"x 17”, outermost frame dimensions are 18 1/2”x 13”. Excellent condition, color is deep and rich. It is backed with acid-free museum rag board, new dustcover and hardware February, 2023 and ready to hang. This first appeared as a color frontispiece in the July, 1903 issue of Scribner’s Magazine featuring the article ‘Romance’ by Davis Ogden and issued as a print the same year. It is one of the rarest of the Scribner’s prints (and even missed in Coy Ludwig’s Book Ref. Page 216 as well as a few others, (last photo)) but represented in Flacks’ 4th, page 36. A truly stunning (and hard to find in this condition) piece for the discriminant collector. Hard to believe it’s 120 years old. Note: The first 12 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues; the last photos after completion of project.
