CONTACT US SKU#: 126714 BIOGRAPHY:Matthias DÃÂ ÃÂ-wel was born in Berlin, Germany. He received his MeisterschÃÂ ÃÂ-ler (MFA) from the Universitat der KÃÂ ÃÂ-nste Berlin in 1983. The following year he was awarded a German Academic Exchange fellowship to New York City where he was made artist in residence at NYU Deutsches Haus and given a post-graduate fellowship to the N.Y. Studio School. In 1986 he received a Pollock-Krasner grant award. Since then he has had numerous solo exhibits, including in NYC, LA, San Francisco, Berlin, and Paris.From 1998 to 2004 he worked as an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design teaching painting, drawing and multimedia courses. In 2004 after 20 years of working, painting and teaching in NYC, DÃÂ ÃÂ-wel moved to Oracle, Arizona. In 2005 he became full-time faculty at Pima Community College where he teaches 2D Studio Art classes and also serves as the Discipline Coordinator for General Education Art and Art History.
