Description: This is a rare April 1969 programme (playbill) with a loose April 26th, 1969 ticket stub from the Original West End production of the landmark MART CROWLEY play "THE BOYS IN THE BAND" at Wyndham's Theatre in London. (The Original Off-Broadway production opened April 14th, 1968 at Theatre Four in New York City and ran for 1001 performances. The London production began previews on February 5th, 1969, officially opened February 11th, 1969 and ran for almost one year, closing January 10th, 1970.) ..... The controversial play was among the first to revolve around gay characters and the motion picture released two years later (with the play's original cast) is often cited as a milestone in the history of "queer cinema". With the exception of one actor, the original New York Cast crossed the Atlantic to repeat their roles in London, but only in the first few months. The cast included KENNETH NELSON as "Michael", PETER WHITE as "Alan", LEONARD FREY as "Harold", TOM ALDREDGE as "Emory" (originally played by Cliff Gorman), FREDERICK COMBS as "Donald", LAURENCE LUCKINBILL as "Hank", KEITH PRENTICE as "Larry", ROBERT LA TOURNEAUX as "Cowboy" and REUBEN GREENE as "Bernard" .....
