Description: The Meat Boy1998Artist Proof #8 of 10 Limited edition giclée print "The Meat Boy" from Mark Ryden's debut show at the COPRO NASON Gallery in Pasadena, California held in 1998. This is an extremely scarce and exceptional piece and one which is rarely found for sale. The piece is significant in that it is the first ever Ryden limited edition print and was released to coincide with his debut solo exhibit. The regular edition of 100 prints, all numbered and signed by Mark were sold solely at the show opening. This is one of the very few Artist Proofs of which only 10 were made. They belonged solely to the artist and were never sold. The one being offered here was gifted to me by Mark. I worked with him for many years during the formative years of Porterhouse Fine Art Editions and have an extensive collection of his earliest published works which I'm now selling. This piece has previously hung in my home, but the time has come to pass it on to another who will appreciate it. As with many older prints, this one has some faint paper aging coloration, but as with much of Ryden's art, the strength of the beauty of his art co-exists nicely with the slight maturity of the paper. This is shown in the photos listed.
