Description: Warm, crisp and surreal mezzotint by French painter and artist Mario Avati (1921- 2009) has a mysterious quality to it that is captivating. It is #13 of only 15 prints in the edition. I believe this to be, as others I have seen in this edition size, to be "before steelplating". It does say "Avant Aliol" in the LL . Avati was the foremost mezzotint artist after Hamaguchi passed away in 2000. His style of printing was so difficult that very few artists are able to master the medium as these two men did in the 20th century. Avati was widely collected and exhibited. His works are also found in numerous books and magazines. This image would be great in a modern dining room or kitchen. Its clean lines convey a sense of sophistication. CONDITION: Lithograph in good used, vintage condition. It has a crumpled lower right corner--see photo #6. Please see all photos. DIMENSIONS: Impression: 13 1/4" x 10 3/4" Paper: 18 3/4" x 14 7/8"
