Description: Rare, original, vintage 1968 mid-century-mod "Sagittarius" zodiac framed pop art print, from a signs of the zodiac series artist Margot Johnson created in conjunction with the New York City printer, Soovia Janis. The whimsical print features a colorful critter, perhaps a tarsier, the big-eyed primate/nocturnal hunter, with bow, arrow and hearts, along with text details about the astrological sign. The artwork image is signed/stamped/copyrighted by the artist Margot Johnson in an unnumbered limited edition in 1968, exclusively with Soovia Janis, Inc. The framed print measures 16 3/4" H x 8 3/4" W x 1/2" D. The black wood frame width is about 1/2 inch all around. The print is presented with glass in the original bamboo-styled black wood frame molding, with an attached metal sawtooth hanging comb on the back side for easy wall installation. It is in excellent pre-owned vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. There are a few small streaks on the red of the critter--see photos. Not sure how these were caused--they may be a production flaw, but they are subtle and do not detract from the overall beauty and integrity of the print. The original paper back is a little deteriorated, but in tact. The original makers label--is still attached on the reverse back side. The print--a happy and engaging piece of home décor--is ready to hang with a sawtooth hanger.
