Maree Massey Almost Real 2.5” Porcelain Doll with 3.75” Layette and Basket 1994

This limited edition doll is handmade of porcelain by Australian artist Maree Massey. The doll has her original, handwritten tag. She is called “Poutie.” Poutie is signed with an “M” on her back by the artist. She is part of the Almost Real collection. Poutie is wearing a dusty rose pink colored crocheted dress adorned with a dark purple bow on front and a pearl on the back, with matching crocheted britches and bonnet. She has painted white socks and painted black Mary Jane shoes. Pouty has a blonde, mohair braid peeking out from under her bonnet. Her bonnet is affixed to her head. Poutie is approximately 2.25 inches long. She has brown eyes and a light complexion with rosy cheeks. Poutie comes with ten accessories that are shown in the photos. Nine are metal and hand-painted; the tiny doll on the stick is a plastic head with hand painted face, and is dressed in a tiny crocheted bonnet and collar with pink bow. The wicker basket is approximately 3.75 inches long. The top is adorned with a flat, maroon flower with gold edge, gold tone angel, and gold bow. The basket is painted a bronze color and lined with a cream color fabric and maroon ribbon. The basket is in excellent condition, with the latch and loop intact. The lid can close, but I am afraid to do it and either break the latch or crush the doll. Poutie was displayed, then mostly stored. She has tightly strung arms and legs, looks new, and will be a beautiful addition to someone’s collection. Please note that the sock on the inside of Poutie’s left leg has a small spot of missing paint, as does the outside of her right shoe, as shown in the photo. I don’t know how those marks occurred. I am not the original owner of this doll. Please closely examine all photos for details and condition of the doll, her clothing, her accessories, and her basket.
