Description: You are purchasing an original oil painting by Bertha Key Newcomer. The artist identified this painting on the back as many people are two faces and more. I feel this is certainly Bertha's take on those individuals who are less than forthright in their day to day dealings. Then again Bertha may have had something completely different in mind regarding the subject matter of this painting.Size: Framed - 22 1/4" x 18 1/4", Image Size - 19 5/8" x 15 5/8" NOTE: I am not an Art Expert or Art Dealer. I have acquired these Bertha Key Newcomer paintings through my friendship with her son. I feel it is now time that these striking paintings be available to the public. Do not hesitate to get in on the ground floor of the release of these paintings. Background Bertha Key Newcomer is a well-known local artist from Vass, North Carolina. Vass is a small community near Southern Pines and Pinehurst North Carolina. Bertha painted for many years never selling a painting. Bertha simply painted as a way to immortalize her memories which were many. Many people saw Bertha's paintings as they were displayed in a local restaurant. Bertha Key Newcomer was born on October 25, 1926 in a log cabin with wood cut by the family on their 94 acres of land. Bertha was 19 when the family sold the land and moved to town. Later in life, Bertha married Robert "Bob" Newcomer. Bob was a hard worker and businessman. The couple opened a successful local pizza parlor still operating today. (Where a number of Bertha's paintings are still being displayed). Bertha and Robert lived a full life taking advantage of their successful business. They traveled extensively visiting Spain, Italy, Sicily, England, Wales, Ireland, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Egypt, Jordon, Israel, and Cairo finally visiting China and Australia and Holland. All these countries are mentioned as their influence can be seen in some of her paintings. Even with all this travel the majority of Bertha's paintings reflect her humble beginnings. Many paintings either show the "Old Home Place" or other activities related to life in a small southern town. Bertha left this life peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2019.The majority of Bertha's paintings are framed. Many of the frames show the wear and tear of storage and time. Also the majority of the paintings were mounted in what might be considered in the nicest of terms as being described as dated and low cost. Based on this fact not every nick scratch or other imperfections in the frame will not be identified in the condition description. You are buying and paying for the painting. The frame is more or less there for the free "ride."
