Description: MAJOLICA ANTIQUE SARREGUEMINES JOLLY FELLOW CHARACTER JUG 1903 FRENCH GERMANY MARK ALSO RARE For your consideration is this lovely pitcher or character jug Sarreguemines France titled Jolly Fellow. She measures approx. 9 inches in height is number 8181 and made in 1903. The historical aspect is quite interesting. After the Franco Prussian War, this part of France was under German control until 1919 after WWI, when it was reverted back to France. The company was required to put a German mark on the character jug. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. While not readily seen with the naked eye, there is some crazing on the bottom. Nice piece of interesting historical majolica. Truly a wonderful addition to any collection!!!!
