Due to the age of some computers there is a chance that it will not be able to access the internet wirelessly, even though it has the hardware to do so. This is particularly common with computers from 2005-7 and older, where the operating system or BIOS may show a functional wireless card, but will not have wireless internet access. This is not the fault of anything in particular, just that the internet is more complex now and the laptop doesn't know how to operate with modern internet protocols. For this same reason, it is also likely that even if a ten year old machine can connect to the internet wirelessly, it may be very slow or have problems displaying web pages. Furthermore, while you can use an ethernet cable to connect to the internet, it will be difficult to do anything because the machine still lacks the ability to use most modern browsers and to understand the protocols of modern internet and web pages. There is no good way to fix this; it's just that the hardware and software are too old. In our process we remove, health-check, and wipe the hard drive, and then check over the computer for any major cosmetic damage and do a simple power test. Each computer is then cleaned inside and out to the best of our ability, removing any stickers, dust, and other gunk. Our techs then take each individual unit and install RAM and a healthy hard drive, often times upgrading the RAM and hard drive where possible. We then install an operating system and any neccessary drivers to make the machine as functional as possible. Lastly, our techs do an overall check which involves a final power test and cleaning of the exterior. These are used computers and will most likely have some scuffs, scratches, and other signs of wear. Any major cosmetic, hardware, software, or firmware issues will be listed above in the description.
