Description: I have for sale a post 1908 medallion made of worn-out currency that was made into pulp by the United States Federal Reserve. Between the years 1874 and 1942 the Federal Reserve disposed of worn-out currency by soaking it into a pulp. Enterprising people purchased the pulp and formed them into shapes such as the one being sold here. Other shapes such as Washington D.C. monuments, post cards, shoes, axes, presidential bust, top hats, animal bust along with other items. These items were sold as souvenirs of Washington D.C.. This medallion is four inches in diameter and looks to be in as made condition. The obverse shows the bust of George Washington. On the obverse at the left side rim it reads FIRST IN WAR, FIRST IN - PEACE AND FIRST - and at the right side rim it reads IN THE HEARTS OF - HIS COUNTRYMEN. On the reverse it reads NATIONAL CURRENCY - SOUVENIR CO. - WASHINGTON, - D.C. and MADE OF MONEY - DESTROYED BY - U.S. TREASURY - ESTIMATED - $3,000.
