Description: I have for sale a macerated Slouch Style Hat souvenir that was likely produced between 1908-1915. This souvenir is made from destroyed old U.S. paper notes that are no longer fit for circulation,. This souvenir hat is 3 1/2 inches by 3 3/16 inches at the base and its 1 3/4 inches high & its in excellent condition. The U.S. Treasury sold the macerated pulp to local merchants who in turn made many different tourist souvenirs from the pulp. This souvenir looks to be a Civil War era Slouch Hat. Inside the hat there is a paper made of label that reads MADE OF UNITED STATES BANK NOTES REDEEMED AND MACERATED AT THE U.S. TREASURY WASHINGTON D.C., - ESTIMATED $8,000.
