Description: An Antique 19th Century Macabre Plaster Cast of a Baby's Hand Mourning Memento with integrated metalhanger on the reverse. These are increasingly rare to find objects and this example has its provenance engraved on the end of the wrist and reads as follows: "R. Cherel 1877". (The name suggests it is a French example!) Condition is good for age with staining and minor wear gained through the passage of time (please see photographs for condition). Size: 4 1/2" long x 3 7/8" wide x 1 3/8" high.
