The play superimposes the John Kennedy assassination onto the plot of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. As the book text states, it was originally published in a limited edition by the Independent Socialist Club of Berkeley. This edition was published December, 1966 just prior to ( as the book also states) “The first stage production of MacBird is scheduled to open in January, 1967 at the Village Gate (Bleeker and Thompson Sts.) in New York City.” There are 13 illustrations by Lisa Lyons who also produced a series of buttons circa 1967 celebrating left wing thinkers, activists and revolutionaries for the Independent Socialist Club in Berkeley, California. The Kennedy brothers, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy plus LBJ’s family and other mid-1960s political figures are included in the play and listed on the Dramatis Personae page. Booklet has light handling wear with some very light creases on cover corners and edges. Clean and very fine.
