Description: Offering an exquisite 31" Heinrich Handwerck/Simon & Halbig 109 made in Germany. This doll has a perfect bisque head with no damage or repairs, and has the purest, creamy bisque with expertly tinted coloring and an abundance of painted upper and lower lashes to enhance her deep brown glass sleep eyes. Her pale bisque and flat, feathered, rather than raised brows, indicate that she is an early model of the 109. I once heard a long-time doll collector & dealer refer to a doll like this one, with her lavishly painted lashes and brows, as "the last doll before lunch", meaning that the decorator was whiling away the time until lunch break by overly painting lash after lash after lash... This doll definitely belongs to the category of a luxury example. She is on her original jointed composition and wood body in the original finish in very fine condition. She has the highest quality chunky, sturdy body with the red Handwerck stamp. I see no repairs or repaint. Her brown human hair wig has long, thick sausage curls almost falling to her waist and is still in the original set. She retains her original cardboard pate. Her vintage costume is fabulous and very skillfully sewn with extra attention to detail. Her full length chemise has been sewn with a double layer to the skirt with a stiffened cotton blend fabric that holds her black velvet dress out voluminously. Her velvet dress is also fully lined to give the effect of many petticoats. Antique lace accents her cuffs and front panel and a wide antique lace collar attaches to her dress with faceted black glass buttons. A black velvet beret trimmed with vintage florals completes her costume, along with stockings and black-strap shoes. She has a captivating presence and I am sure she will make her buyer very happy. Please message me if you have any questions at all; I'm always very happy to help! I have been an antique dealer and collector since 1990 and have a lot of experience packing and shipping fragile antiques so please buy with confidence. Thank you for taking the time to visit my listings and I hope you will consider adding me to your list of favorite sellers. Blessings, Michelle PS: She is very heavy and will require an oversized box, and because we don't know the distance she will travel, I am estimating shipping cost according to what I have been finding when shipping similar sized dolls. If I have overcharged for shipping, I will reimburse you and if I have underestimated, I will pay the rest of the shipping/insurance costsπ
