Luis Cernuda Bidón (September 21, 1902 – November 5, 1963) was a Spanish poet, a member of the Generation of '27. During the Spanish Civil War, in early 1938, he went to the UK to deliver some lectures and this became the start of an exile that lasted till the end of his life. He taught in the universities of Glasgow and Cambridge before moving in 1947 to the US. In the 1950s he moved to Mexico. While he continued to write poetry, he also published wide-ranging books of critical essays, covering French, English and German as well as Spanish literature. A renowned Cuban artist, Gina Pellon was born in 1926 in Cumanayagua, Las Villas, Cuba. has lived and worked in Paris since 1959. She has worked continuously for over four decades as a painter, graphic artist, and poet until her death .Her work has been particularly well received in northern Europe due in part to her connection with the Danish COBRA movement, one of the most important vanguard artistic groups in that part of the world.Her career in Europe was very prolific with extensive exhibitions in Paris, Lausanne, Brussels, Amsterdam, Toulouse, Silkebour (Denmark) and in Larvik (Norway). She has also had one-person shows and group exhibitions in other cities such as, Miami, New York and Caracas, among others.Pellon has received numerous awards and honors, and her work has been exhibited and collected around the world. José Ramón Díaz Alejandro, painting and writing under the name of Ramon Alejandro, (born February 1943, Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban painter and writer who has lived in exile in Argentina, Uruguay and Paris, France. He began his artistic life in 1969 with the exhibition Alejandro. Galerie Maya, Brussels, Belgium. In 1971 the exhibit Alejandro was seen at the Galerie Jacques Desbrière, Paris. Later in 1987 the same show was presented at the Galerie Du Dragon, Paris.From 1969 to 1971 he obtained the Cintas Foundation Fellowship, in New York.
