Zoe Mozert (1907–1993) was a renowned American artist and one of the most celebrated pin-up illustrators of the 20th century. Born Alice Adelaide Moser in Colorado Springs, she studied at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art in Philadelphia. Mozert gained fame for her pin-up art, particularly during the 1930s and 1940s, with her works frequently appearing in magazines like “True Confessions” and “Screen Play”. She was unique in that she often used herself as a model for her artwork, a practice that added a personal and realistic touch to her portraits. Mozert's style was known for its soft, romantic quality, focusing on the natural beauty of women rather than exaggerated or overtly sexualized features, setting her apart from her contemporaries. Her most famous works include the illustrations for the 1946 movie poster for “The Outlaw”, featuring Jane Russell. Throughout her career, Mozert worked on film posters, magazine covers, calendars, and advertisements, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of commercial art and pin-up culture. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
