Description: LOW-COST 1-Tube radio kit * - Kit utilizes a piece of 7x9 cm (2.75 x 3.5 inch), perfboard for assembly. Perfboard has copper rings on bottom. Assembly is by point-to-point wiring. Perfboard grid does not match original design. It will be necessary for you to enlarge holes as necessary. * - Kit utilizes fixed tuning inductors and variable tuning capacitor, instead of loopstick tuning. This actually provides EASIER tuning. * - Plastic instead of metal AA battery holder. No large 22.5 volt metal battery holder is included, includes battery clips for two 9 volt batteries. If you are not familiar with the original Radio Shack Science Fair P-box design, this is a simple 1-tube radio kit. Unless you live near a radio station, you will need a long wire antenna and ground, like a crystal radio set. Kit may come with carbon composition or carbon film resistors. Powered by three batteries, one AA and two 9-volt, not included. Kit comes with ALL parts shown, including tested tube. Includes nylon hardware for board support, which will not scratch surfaces. Comes with basic instructions, including parts list, schematic, assembly and operating notes. Soldering required, solder not included. Ships by First Class Mail in padded envelope.
