This is 5" x 8" with 420 pages from 1968 . Almost 1300 species of herbaceous plants and a few showy flowering shrubs and woody vines are described . Family classification of each species is identified visually by means of symbols placed next to the family names in the text. At the front of the book these symbols are linked to brief and nontechnical descriptions of the 84 families represented. Included here are all the flowers you're most likely to encounter in the eastern and north-central U.S., westward to the Dakotas and southward to North Carolina and Arkansas, as well as the adjacent parts of Canada. This is in very good condition but is an ex-library book . A used soft cover book called Wildflowers: A Quick Identification Guide to the Wildflowers of North America (Macmillan Field Guides) , ISBN-10: 002063420X by Robert H. Mohlenbrock . This is 5" x 8" with 203 pages from 1987 . An excellent field guide with color photos for each . Describes the structure of flowers, shows more than three hundred species of wildflowers, and includes information about habitat, range, and characteristics .This is in very good condition , but front cover has a slight bend from top to bottom and owners name inside .
