Description: The song "Looking for the Perfect Beat" was originally released in December 1982 (although most listings for the 12" version identify the release date as 1983). Attempts to get a full-length album for Bambaataa were not possible with Tommy Boy as Silverman's contract with him was strictly for singles; re-negotiating the contract proved to be difficult. "Looking For the Perfect Beat" was ranked at number 13 among the "Tracks of the Year" for 1983 by NME. THIS COPY is the 1989 re-release on the Tommy Boy label in the 12” maxi-single format (see Notes, below). The track listing is as follows: Tracklist A1 Looking For The Perfect Beat (Vocal) 6:56 A2 Bonus Beats II 2:00 B1 Looking For The Perfect Beat (Instrumental) 6:58 B2 Bonus Beats II 2:00 It is notable that the second track on side two does not appear on the label, plus is it simply a duplicate of the same track from side one. The vinyl has some small marks, but per a test listen, none that affect playback. It is in Very Good Plus [VG+] condition. The original die-cut Tommy Boy cover shows a bit of ring wear, but overall, it too is in Very Good Plus [VG+] condition. The original inner sleeve, which features an ad to subscribe to the Dance Music Report – “The Newsletter of Dance Music Professionals” – on one side, and a listing of some other Tommy Boy releases on the other, along with a ad to join the Tommy Boy Future Beat Alliance (F.B.A.), is in Very Good Plus [VG+] or better condition, with no splits, tears, stains, writing, etc. NotesBPM: 120 Produced, Arranged and Mixed by Arthur Baker & John Robie (The Guru's) for A.B.I. Track B2 is not listed on release label. It is the same track as A2: Bonus Beats II Label appears to be off-white/grey with blue swirl lines and blue logo images. Comes in Tommy Boy company sleeve with 1 logo per side. The logo on the rear of sleeve is mirrored.Barcode and Other IdentifiersMatrix / Runout (Printed on label, Side A): TB-831AMatrix / Runout (Printed on label, Side B): TB-831BMatrix / Runout (Runout, Side A): TB-831-A-RE-VERS 1 STERLING [Baseball Graphic] ✩PRESSED AT SOUND MAKERS,✩N.J.Matrix / Runout (Runout, Side B): TB 831-B-RE STERLING [Baseball Graphic] ✩PRESSED AT SOUND MAKERS,✩N.J.
