Description: I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York. (See cut songs below.) ....... This is a rare September 1977 "Performing Arts" program from the Pre-Broadway tryout of the GEORGE FURTH, JOHN KANDER and FRED EBB musical "THE ACT" at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. (The show would open October 29th, 1977 at the Majestic Theatre in New York City and run for 233 performances.) ..... The musical starred LIZA MINNELLI and the cast included BARRY NELSON, ARNOLD SOBOLOFF, GAYLE CROFOOT, ROGER MINAMI, CHRISTOPHER BARRETT, MARK GODDARD, CLAUDIA ASBURY, WAYNE CILENTO, CAROL ESTEY, MICHAEL LEEDS, LAURIE DAWN SKINNER, BRAD WITSGER and ALBERT STEPHENSON ..... CUT SONGS: The list of musical numbers includes "The Only Game in Town" and "Please, Sir" which were cut out-of-town and "Hollywood, California which was cut shortly after arriving in New York ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
