It is an Original Limited Edition Colored Etching on paper, c. 1960's - 1970's. It is Numbered 81/100. Hebrew lettering and symbols coexist with colored shapes, animal and human figures, orbs, a six-sided star (Star of David), and much more. The title of the piece is "La Kahbale", referring to Kabbalah - an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought in Jewish mysticism. Traditional practitioners believe its earliest origins pre-date world religions, forming the primordial blueprint for Creation's philosophies, religions, sciences, arts, and political systems. Image opening measures 12 X 16 1/2 and is in Good to Very Good Vintage condition w/ some minor yellowing.Outside measure of the frame is 19 X 23 1/4 and is in Good Vintage condition. Zwy Milshtein, a/k/a: Zwi, Zvi, Zvy; (1934-2020), was born in Kishinev, Bessarabia - now part Ukraine and Moldova) - was a painter, printmaker and writer. Zvi Milshtein was born in 1934. After the annexation of Bessarabia to the USSR in 1940, his father was arrested and died in prison. In 1941-1945 — with his mother and brother evacuated to Tbilisi (in 1943-1944 he studied painting at the Palace of pioneers), in 1945 as the former Romanian citizens left Romania (he took lessons of painting from Stefanescu in Bucharest), and from there in 1947 for Cyprus (took lessons in sculpture from Zeev Ben-Zvi). Since 1948 in Israel (learned from Reitler, Avni, Ardon and Maradi), where in 1954 he held his first solo exhibition (Tel-Aviv). Since 1955, Zvi Milstein lived in France (Paris).In 1997 the work of Milstein was selected for the celebration of the bicentenary of the birth of Hans Christian Andersen in Denmark. The exhibition went from May 26 to June 26, 2000 at the Museum of Russian Art (painting) and in the French Cultural Center (graphics) in Kiev.In 2007, Milshtein moved to Gleizé, in the Rhône Department of France.
