Description: VINTAGE LIONEL No. 2023 FA DIESEL A-A, ANNIVERSARY ENGINE plus 3 PASSENGER CARS: Up for review is the Vintage Lionel Union Pacific FA Diesel No. 2023 Engine AA and Three Union Pacific Passenger Cars. The 2023 Union Pacific AA units were the first early series Alco diesels produced by Lionel in 1950. These yellow shell with yellow nose and gray roof engines have many desired features. Standard features of the 2023 include: painted body with painted stripes, die-cast frame, two-axle Magnetraction three-position E-unit, headlight each unit, horn and operating front couplers on each unit with non-operating rear couplers. Other extras include a silver ornamental horn on each unit, headlight and windshield lens, rear metal step ladders plus illuminated number boards with the number 2023 printed on the lens. The instructions, locomotives box, and Lionel wrapping for one locomotive is included. This locomotive was tested and works well. I could not test the horn, but the compartment is totally like new. The three yellow Union Pacific passenger cars include:· 2481, Plainfield Pullman Car· 2482, Westfield Pullman Car· 2483 Livingston Observation CarThe Lionel passenger cars were available only in 1950 as part of Set No. 1464W that is commonly referred to as the 50th Anniversary Set" that was headed up by the yellow No. 2023 Union Pacific Alco FA diesels. The passenger cars were produced on a yellow painted body that has a gray roof with RED stripes and window trim and red heat-stamped lettering. These cars were based on the standard Pullman and Observation prototypes of the time. The cars are lighted by two lamps that are held in place by metal brackets that are also used to hold the roof to the body. This was the first of the 2400 Series cars that have people silhouettes on the interior window inserts that came with Type IV die-cast four-wheel passenger trucks equipped with electronic coil couplers. There are no variations. The set was issued in an 027 gauge set, the cars will operate equally well on Lionel’s wider radius 0 gauge track. The boxes for 2481 and 2482 Pullman cars are included but in bad shape with some holes and no closing flaps. The diesel engines box shows some wear from age and storage. The diesels engines plus passenger cars are in excellent condition for their 65 years plus history. See pictures for details.TERMS: Buyer pays shipping and handling for this large box.
