Lion Head Vintage Lee Sands Sponge Coral Seashell Mosaic Necklace

Description: Lion Head Coral Mother of Pearl Mosaic Inlay Hawaiian Statement Necklace By Lee Sands This is an Early Necklace and is not signed. Bead strands measures approximately 12" Total length with pendant is approximately 14 1/4" Lion pendant head measures approximately 3" x 3 3/16" This piece appears to be hand poured, inlayed, and created by hand. The front is polished flush with Smooth surface, the back was left in its natural poured state and is not polished flush like his later pieces are. Most of the inlay appears to be coral with some Mother of Pearl accents. This is an older lion where the designer appears to be just starting out in his designing process. Its not cut as uniformly as the pieces I'm most familiar with. Item is in good preowned condition showing some surface wear from age or use. I can feel a couple small edge nicks to sides if I drag my nail to edges plus I see a few delamation areas near drilled section for chains, and one chip to black resin plastic to outer edge area. The strands are made using red, orange & tan coral beads surrounded by a darker brown bead strand. It has a spiral type spin to it. I have no idea what the brown beads are made of they have a more uniform shape to them. The Coral beads are all slightly different natural shapes, I spotted one that look more like a twig. At least one bead had an open drill hole to it which happens with seashells a lot. Overall really cool Vintage piece of Hawaiian Jewelry for the Early Lee Sands Collector.
