Description: Up for Auction: Vintage MagazinesDescription: LIFE MAGAZINE, May 4, 1953, A SPECIAL ISSUE, AFRICA A Continent In FermentAdditional Details: In this special issue: An exciting 10,000 mile trip through AFRICA: A CONTINENT IN FERMENT: This issue has been assembled so that the reader can, in effect, take a 10,000-mile trip along the route shown on the map, ending up in the southernmost (and currently newsiest) part of the continent. A small map with a dot at the beginning of each story marks its location. It is a special issue so we have omitted all of Life's regular features except the most important news story of the week, the prisoner of war exchange in Korea. Work on this huge project started four months ago with an eloquent dispatch from Alexander Campbell, chief Time-Life correspondent in Africa who later covered much of Africa with our photographers (and furnished valuable guidance for the editors). The dispatch, which appears in part below, now serves as an introduction to the issue.Dimensions: 10 1/2" X 14", 184 pagesCondition: Poor condition, some water stains on lower right corner of some of the back pages Please see my other listings for Vintage Books and Magazines, Postcards, Railroad Items, Vintage Menus, Model Train Items, and Other Collectibles.
