Two peasants wearing wide-brimmed straw hats harvest the grain with sickles, while two others, a man and a woman dressed in a loose fitting blue dress, shear the sheep with a special type of shear called a force. Between these two scenes of rustic life flows a stream bordered by trees that empties into a wider river, the Clain. A Chateau, roofed in slate and set in a mountainous landscape, fills the middle scene. Beautifully framed with two-toned gold frame.
